Local reception knowledge
Esher points at Crystal Palace, about 14 miles away in south London, and most homes get every Freeview channel with London news. Where problems start is the tree cover: Esher Common, West End Common and the big gardens of Claygate and Oxshott Road can sit right in the aerial’s path.
Large detached houses here often have aerials hidden in the loft to keep the roofline clean. Tiles, foil-backed insulation and a long cable run to a TV at the far end of the house can leave a marginal signal, so we test before choosing between the loft and a discreet roof position.
Esher village is a conservation area, so dish and aerial positions on front elevations need more thought. We’ll suggest a discreet spot and tell you if you should check with Elmbridge Council first.

A new aerial isn’t always the answer. We measure the signal first and fix what’s actually wrong.
Usually water in the cable, a corroded connector or a misaligned aerial.
We measure signal quality, not just strength, and fix the cause.
The TV input, a loose lead, an amplifier or the aerial.
We trace where the fault starts: the TV, the socket or the roof.
Often the wrong transmitter, or a relay that doesn’t carry every channel.
We check which transmitter suits your address, then retune.
Loose fixings and water in the connectors.
We secure the aerial and replace damaged cable so it holds up.
Esher & the surrounding area
Thames Ditton and East Molesey have riverside apartment blocks and conversions that share one aerial and dish. When a whole block loses channels at once, the shared amplifier is usually the cause, and we work with managing agents to fix it. Closer to Hampton Court, period cottages need neat cable runs that don’t spoil the brickwork.
We cover Esher and the surrounding villages across KT10, KT7 and KT8. Give us your full postcode when you call and we’ll confirm the visit.

Sometimes, but not always. We measure the signal in the loft first. A better loft aerial or new cable is often enough; where it isn’t, we’ll suggest the least visible roof position.
